Santorini is one of Greece’s best-known islands, and this private tour is a comfortable way to see its main sights in one outing. You travel only with your own group, with an English-speaking guide who also drives an air-conditioned minivan, so there is no need to rent a car or share a vehicle with strangers.
The tour usually lasts several hours, and the company suggests about five for the full experience. Pickup and drop-off are included, and the meeting point is in Fira. Booking is flexible: you can cancel up to 24 hours before for a full refund, and payment is taken later.
The first stop is Oia, with time for a short guided walk and photos. Its narrow streets, small shops, blue domes, and white buildings appear in many pictures of Santorini. From this side of the island, you also get wide views of the Caldera, the basin formed by a huge volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, along with Thirasia and the volcanic islands of Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni.
Next comes Imerovigli, with panoramic views of the village and Skaros Rock, a tall cliff that once held a medieval castle. A short photo stop follows at Firostefani, known for the Three Bells Church.
The route then climbs to Profitis Ilias, the highest point on Santorini. A brief stop gives sweeping views over most of the island and helps you see how the volcanic landscape fits together.
Two beaches show that landscape up close. Red Beach is named for its red volcanic rocks and cliffs. At Perissa, a long black sand beach, you get the most free time of the tour, enough to walk, swim, or relax before the next stop.
The last stop is Megalochori, a smaller, quieter village than Oia or Fira. Old stone houses, small squares, and narrow alleys give it a more traditional feel before the tour returns to Fira.
The price covers the guide, transportation, taxes and fees, and bottled water. Museum tickets and cable car tickets are not included. Infant seats can be provided if you ask in advance.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and bring a sun hat, since much of the day is spent outdoors.
